PORTLAND COMMUNITY
OF EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED THERAPISTS
getting to the heart of things
PCEFT is about promoting healthy relationships and connection. We believe that true connection requires risk and vulnerability and that we all need support in finding these within ourselves. We provide therapy for couples, families and other key relationships, helping them to heal together. Our work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a research-based model that provides a map for healing and closeness. EFT was developed by Sue Johnson and Les Greenberg as a way to address relational distress. We are indebted to Sue Johnson and ICEEFT for developing and growing this inspiring and effective way of healing relationships.
We provide training and support the growth of therapists in their work. EFT is an attachment model that acknowledges the idea that we are all built for connection, and that when we can’t get close to the people we need, we all struggle. Grounded in EFT, we offer training and supervision in a model that is based in three decades of research with proven outcomes and is full of heart. We provide a learning context that is supportive and caring, but also rigorous and powerful.

EFT For Couples
Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples is a way of working with the distress that we all can feel in our relationships. EFT is about looking at the dynamics and patterns we get pulled in to in our most important relationships and helping us change those patterns at the deepest levels. We help people connect with themselves and their partners in deep and satisfying ways. EFT has been well researched as a treatment modality and has been demonstrated to reduce couples’ distress in 70%-90% of cases.
The PCEFT Board meets via Zoom every 3rd Tuesday at 6:30 pm unless otherwise specified. Community members are welcome to join to observe Board meetings. If you’d like to join, please contact Jennifer Szolnoki (jennifer@tworiverscoaching.com) for the link to the meeting. If you would like to propose an agenda item, please do so here at least one week prior to the meeting. An archive of meeting notes can be found here.
